Driver’s side suspension

Well I am finally starting to make some progress again.  I finished off the drivers side suspension work and I am in the process of cleaning up parts.  Jesse has been working on the engine and hopefully there will be a lot of progress over the next couple of weeks.

Well…

Not much progress in April… still waiting on the cam shaft and only cleaned a couple of parts.  Plus side is that this is my last trip to Madagascar and in theory I should have more time.  Not sure if my wife agrees, but we will see.

Almost Ready to Assemble

Here is a shot of the crank cleaned up beside the pistons, rockers and the head.  Just about ready to assemble. 🙂

Passenger Side Steering and Suspension

Well I finally got all the parts painted and reinstalled.  Some of the bolts still need to be tightened up more, but it is starting to come together.

I will post some more engine shots shortly.  Hopefully everything will still be done for Mini Meet West in June!

Some Paint on the Engine

The engine build is continuing to progress.  Here is a shot of the block nicely painted…

Flow Results of the Port and Polish

Well there has been a marked improvement to the flow numbers.  There has been an 19% increase in CFM on the Intake and 21% on the Exhaust.  The following is a graph of the flow results.

The Exhaust to Intake ratio hovers around 60%, which is short of the 70% goal, but seems to be pretty standard for these heads.  Regardless their is a significant improvement.  I have added some pictures to the gallery of Jesse’s work.

Crank, Head, Block, & Suspension Cleanup

Things are still moving really slow.  The target of Mini Meet West is in question… 🙂  Hopefully January and February will be months that show significant results. I know I keep saying that…

Well the crank has been lightened and is off to be balanced; the head has been ported and the new valves are being fitted; the blocked has been bored and honed; and I am slowly cleaning up a little more of the Suspension.  Actually here is a before and after shot of cleaning up the break calipers.

Main Strap and …

Well there continues to be some build progress.  I don’t have a lot of pictures, but here is a quick shot of the new main strap.  It needs longer studs, but those will come shortly.

There are few outstanding parts that need to be ordered, but hopefully everything will be together for Christmas!  I am hoping to also get int he garage and get some more done on the suspension, but there is also a Caribbean cruise to fit in. 🙂

Slloooowwww going…

Well the suspension pieces are going back together, but I have had almost no free time this last 4 weeks at home.  Jesse has been working on the engine a bit in my absence and hopefully in December I will get the suspension pieces finished, work with Jesse to finish off the motor and maybe even have it sitting in the car.  Not sure it will be connected up though… 🙂  We will see as December generally does not usually lend it’s self to a lot of free time.

Connecting Rods

Well even though I haven’t had much of a chance to work on the car Jesse has made some progress with the connecting rods.  Have a look…

I sure hope it will be running by the end of winter… 🙂  Hopefully when I am back next time I will get most of the suspension sorted out.
