Engine Removal – Round 4

One more big push and the Engine and sub-frame have now been removed from the car.  We started a little after 9:00 last night and finished around 1:00 this morning.  I am still a little weak on the pictures, but here is a shot of the engine removed…

I couldn’t done this alone.  Definitely need the help of SMOA especially Alex and Donald!  Thanks guys!  It was a pretty cool process.  Made sure everything was out of the way, put the sub-frame on jack stands, than two of us lifted the body off while the other made sure that everything cleared.  Other then the car being heavier than I expected it went smoothly.

Engine Removal – Round 3

No picture updates for today, but… the wiring is all cleaned up and out of the way, oil cooler is out, shocks are disconnected, exhaust is unhooked and ready to come apart,  and a few other misc things.

Engine Removal – Round 2

Now it may not seem like we have done a lot since round 1, but let me tell you it was 3.5 hours of work done by 3 of us.  There is still a little more work to be done on the top end and than we can start working on the bottom end and dropping the motor out the bottom.  Here are some pics from last nights work.

Engine Removal – Round 1

Well I have conscripted the team (we will call them the Strathcona Mini Association – SMA) to help pull out the motor Saturday evening.  I started a little prep work by taking the hood (bonnet) and front grill off.  The oil is drained and I started draining the antifreeze, but was unable to finish…  way to crowded in their and I was starting to spill it all over the place.  Thankfully the SMA will be over and I am sure we will get things sorted out.  Here is a shot of the mini sans bonnet and grill.

The Beginning

Well if you haven’t check out the About page as it gives a little history on my car.  Here is a picture of it from this summer.  Same picture I used in the heard of this page.

I am still playing around with this template so there may be a few changes over the next few weeks.   The goals is to track my progress as I make changes to the car.  I am hoping to have the engines and tranny rebuilt for spring, but I am limited in personal time so we will see what happens… 🙂
